How to Take Care of Aging Skin Naturally
BY:UNLIMITEDCHOICES
As we get older, our skin tends to show age in the form of wrinkles, age spots, and thinning/losings of collagen. But the good news is that you don’t have to go to extremes to keep your skin looking youthful and healthy. There are plenty of natural methods you can use to help preserve and protect your skin.
1. Antioxidants:
Antioxidants are your skin’s defense against harmful free radicals, which are responsible for causing damage to skin cells. Antioxidants can help replenish and repair skin cells, as well as neutralizing free radicals to preserve younger-looking skin. Try oral and/or topical antioxidant supplements, such as Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Alpha Lipoic Acid.
2. Moisturize Regularly:
Keep your skin hydrated with regular moisturizing. Oils, creams, and lotions can help lock in moisture and prevent the skin from becoming dehydrated. Choose a moisturizer that’s appropriate for your skin type and that finish with a non-greasy, silky feeling.
3. Sunscreen:
UV rays from the sun are one of the leading causes of skin damage. Wear sunscreen that has an SPF of 30 or higher to help protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays. Opt for lotions, creams, and sprays that are specifically designed for face and body use.
4. Exfoliation:
Slough off dead skin cells with a gentle exfoliant. This will help promote skin cell turnover to help reveal brighter, softer, and more youthful-looking skin. Exfoliate no more than two to three times per week in order to avoid over-drying the skin.
5. DIY Masks:
Give your skin an at-home facial with a homemade mask. Mix together a tablespoon of honey, two tablespoons of plain yogurt, and a tablespoon of ground oats.
Apply to your skin, wait 10 minutes, and rinse off with warm water.
The honey provides natural hydration, while the yogurt contains probiotics to help refine skin tone and texture. The oats will help to soothe and exfoliate. By incorporating these simple tips into your skincare routine, you can help keep your skin looking healthy finish and beautiful naturally.
Aging skin can be a tough thing to handle, but with the right lifestyle and skincare habits, you can help keep your skin looking as young and vibrant as ever.
